WHO WE ARE
Joining a church can mean many things to many people. Some seek out God and community when they feel they have lost their way, or are seeking a deeper purpose, or are looking for a way to connect to their family and cultural identity. But it is our believe that the Church, at its core, is about finding love and beauty through God and God’s work.
At Orewa Baptist Church, we inspire individuals of all ages and backgrounds to bring the Lord Almighty into their lives at every moment - moments of joy, moments of despair, and even those moments in between. We are committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and are here to spread His message with loving patience and kindness.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The programmes and activities governing the form of worship of the Orewa Baptist Church shall be based upon and at all times be consistent with the following creed and beliefs:
We believe there is only one God and that in the unity of this Godhead are three Persons of one essence, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus is the only, begotten Son of God; born of a virgin.
We believe that the "Gifts of the Spirit" are still available today, and are to be exercised according to the directions given in the Scriptures.
We believe that all Scripture comes from God; that it is without error and that it is totally reliable. The Bible is the final authority in the life of the believer.
We believe that humans were created in God’s image but disobedience to God has left them separated from Him and under the penalty of death.
We believe that salvation from eternal death is through: recognising personal sin; faith and acceptance of the sacrificial/substitutionary death of Jesus; and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord.
We believe that Baptism in water is by full immersion; it is a direct commandment of the Lord, and is to be practised by believers only.
We believe in the personal, physical return of Jesus to the earth and in the resurrection of all believers to life everlasting.
We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ, which is His Body. It is composed of believers who have put their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
We believe it is every believer's responsibility to dedicate his/her life to the task of reaching the lost as commanded by Jesus in His Great Commission
(Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20, Acts 1:8).
