Developing a prayer life takes time. Often, we struggle to find the right words to say. We get distracted. We give up. Most Christians know prayer is important but get discouraged. This page was created to help people begin their own prayer journey.

STEP 1

Find a place with no distractions.

STEP 2

Click the link and listen to the song "Make Room" from the EC24 Playlist. Listen to the lyrics and place your focus on God. Random thoughts may fill your head and that's ok. Do your best to keep your attention on Him.

STEP 3

When Jesus' disciples asked him how to pray, Jesus gave them the "Lord's Prayer".

Go through the prayer 3 times.

1. Read the prayer slowly.

2. Say the prayer aloud.

3. Pray the prayer.

The Lord's Prayer

‘Our Father in heaven, may your name always be kept holy. May your kingdom come and what you want be done, here on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us the food we need for each day.
Forgive us for our sins, just as we have forgiven those who sinned against us.
And do not cause us to be tempted,
but save us from the Evil One.’

The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours forever. Amen. (Matt 6:9-13)

STEP 4

God's Word is a way to help us grow. Read the passage below at least twice focusing on verse 3.

John 17:1-3

After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. 2 For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. 3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

STEP 5

Pause for a moment.

Whatever is running through your mind, talk to God about it for the next 2-3 minutes. Remember, be honest.

STEP 6

Here's a simple prayer to say as you being to wrap up your prayer time.

Father,

You desire for us to know You.

You love us.

Your love was seen through Jesus.

Thank you for your love.

I pray that you would help me to know you better through prayer.

Amen.

STEP 7

Take 1-2 minutes and sit in stillness.

This is a super important step. Don't skip it.
